"Aww man, not again!"

Okay, Snakey, I promise this will be the last entry for a while related to The Aquabats! Super Show!

While watching the show, I noticed a character always in the background.  The commentary on the DVD later confirmed this.  There is a running gag in the background of every episode called the Fox Man.  More after the jump.

My brother and his friend decided to create an Instagram account that relates to all things video games.  That’s cool.  They also are giving me the opportunity to contribute to it as well.  That may not be cool.  In any case, I decided to add a widget gallery for that account to this website.  Check it out on the side bar to the right.  If it’s not there anymore, then maybe: 1) the widget no longer works or 2) the Instagram account is dead.

Eretzvaju

Evil Zone is a unique fighting game.  This is a game where you have only one button for attacking.  Yeah, that’s right.  One!  In a world where we have six with most Capcom fighters and four with SNK games, you got one with Evil Zone.  It’s an interesting game, I’ll give you that, and it does have a lot of style.  It’s a game worth mentioning and I’m planning to do a write up of it some time soon.  So far I’ve completed about half of the roster and have liked what I’ve played thus far.

I don’t know who this Fat Kidd is, but he sure likes to flaunt it big time.  I like to imagine his name is taken very literally and he’s not what you’d expect him to look like compared to what the average tagger would look like.

Super rad

I completed watching the first season of The Aquabats! Super Show!  Don’t let the goofiness of how this show looks fool you.  It’s a show worth watching.

My favorite episodes were the ones I already talked about in previous postings; "EagleClaw!" and "Cowboy Android!"  Other great episodes are "Haunted Battletram!" and "Night of the Cactus!"  In NotC, guest star Paul Rust did a fantastic job with his role of Ronmark.  "Haunted Battletram!" had some hilarious scenes.  The soundtrack for the episode was great too, especially the song played towards the end.

Each episode was jammed pack with visual and audio goodness.  I enjoyed learning that The Aquabats did the majority of the soundtrack and they had some episodes with them performing at live events.  The audience is super energetic and literally wear their enthusiasm for the band on their sleeves as they dress up as them and call themselves Aquacadets.

I was also impressed with the number of special guests they have on the show.  As I mentioned earlier, Paul Rust, but others include but not limited to: Rip Taylor, Jon Heder, Lou Diamond Phillips, Warren Fitzgerald (from The Vandals), Kate Towne, and Weird Al Yankovic.  The cartoons with the team and Batty were entertaining as well.  I knew of Pey and her drawings of the Aquabats before the show and I’m glad they picked her style for the direction of how the character art should look like.  I especially liked her other drawings of the Offspring.  Overall, the show is entertaining from start to end and is worth your time to watch.

Periodical II

Wow.  I didn’t know this post would be related to the previous one and the one from a few days ago.  Today is the day that was teased on Scroll’s twitter account and now we know what the secret is…A NEW ISSUE!

This one looks like a good read.  This issue is all about Warp, Inc., a video game developer founded by Kenji Eno.  This announcement was made one year after Eno’s death.  I’ve always been curious of Eno’s games and I plan to get a few of his games for the Saturn and Dreamcast, but a lot of his early stuff looks totally bonkers and fun.  I hope the issue covers those games too.

As a side note, another announcement was made related to Eno.  Apparently former colleagues of his are going to start a crowdfunding campaign to fund Eno’s last game idea called Kakexun.  The interesting thing about this idea is that it’s an online title.  I wonder if it is going to have users interact with each other or if it’s just some world score thing.

Pixel Perfect

While some of you schmoes are playing those “free-to-play” games on your phones that include you to pay a ton of in game purchases, I’m playing the true free to play game -- One-Dot Enemies.

A few years ago Kenji Eno (known for games such as Enemy Zero, Real Sound, and D) released a game for the iPhone called One-Dot Enemies.  The rule is simple: tap the very tiny enemies on the screen.  And man are they small!  Each enemy is one pixel in size.  It’s super hard to see them when they don’t move.  I usually confuse them with dust that’s on the screen.  When they move around they are easier to spot.

When you tap one, a colored skull is left behind for a few seconds.  Tap enough in a row without missing one and you’ll get a multi colored skull (which I’m guessing is a bonus of some sorts).  Sometimes you’ll get a big circle that moves across the screen.  Tapping it will cause an explosion of enemies to scatter from the circle; creating a sort of relief for you eyes of scanning the whole screen for an enemy.  The music is simple, but it fits the game well.

When you are done, you can go to the results screen that shows the number of enemies you’ve tapped. They are displayed inside of the circumference of a circle with another, much smaller circle within it at the center.  If you tap the button labeled [FLUSH], you will quickly notice that the circle is actually a toilet; and all of the one dot enemies will be flushed down it.  By doing this, you are submitting your total to a world total.  From my last game, the world score was 108,913,463.

Some sites note there are some Easter eggs in the game.  I haven’t found one yet, but hoping to accidentally trip over one.  I can only imagine what they can be, coming from Eno.

Give it a try; it will literally cost you nothing!
